A.N.Murthy Rao is a great writer in kannada literature well known for his essays. He born in akkihebbalu in 1900 ,a village on the bank of river Hemavathi in krishnarajpet taluk,mandya .
Being a master graduate in english from Mysore university,he was lecturer in the same university.He has worked as director of akashvani,mysore station and Kannada Saahitya Parishath for sometime.He has done some translation works from english to kannada.He was a great atheist who lived with this belief over 103 years making no compromisation.His wellknown work “Devaru” which has been translated into english as “The God” fetched him the
karnataka Govt.’s “Pampa” award.He got central saahithya academy award for his collection of essays called as “Chitragalu mattu patragalu” which means “images and letters”,contains essays related to Prof.B.M.Shree,Ralo etc and letters written to Prof.Thee.nam.Shree.

I have read his book Devaru. I enjoyed it very well. A N Murthy Rao has very beautifully articulated his atheistic viewpoint with a perfect blend of humour in this book.
